It can be really difficult to know what to say or do to comfort a friend or family member who is dealing with infertility. The experience of infertility, pregnancy loss, and third-party reproduction is a complicated process that brings out a variety of thoughts and emotions. Witnessing the pain of our loved ones is challenging and no matter how kind, caring and compassionate one is, caregivers are left feeling incapable of improving the situation for their loved ones. However, there are many ways loved ones can support someone going through infertility. One common experience frequently reported by individuals and couples dealing with infertility is the sense of loneliness and shame that accompanies their family building journey. Letting loved ones know that they are not alone goes a long way in improving their social and emotional well-being. Here are just a few small steps that one can take to being part of a support system that decreases that loneliness and shame.
Be Present.
One of the greatest gifts you can give to someone who is grieving a loss or struggling with infertility is to just let them know that you are there - physically and emotionally. Everyone copes differently with pain and loss, so tell your friend that “I’m here for whatever you need” whether that is a a 2am phone call, a quiet walk, or just a shoulder to cry on. It may seem cliché but just “being” with someone especially during moments of pain is a great source of support. Also, don’t underestimate the value of “small gestures with big meaning”. Managing some of the day-to-day tasks such as, such as washing the dishes, walking the dog, making dinner, without being asked communicates that you’re physically present as well. It sends the message that “I see you’re going through a lot so let me lift your burden a little bit.”
Be Present, without being pushy.
Avoid the temptation to offer unsolicited advice. The well-intended advice or recommendations of loved ones can often bring out more pain. While we aim to cheer up our friends and family, refrain from talking about your aunt’s cousin’s friend who got pregnant when they “stopped trying.” Unless specifically asked, do not forward or share an article about the latest miracle infertility drug that has been discovered. Trust me that no one is doing more research on how to conceive than your loved one. If your loved one is looking for some advice, wait for them to ask your opinion.
Be Real.
Because we care so much and want to make things better for our loved ones, we search for the perfect words to say or the right thing to do. Instead, just be honest and say: “I have no idea how this must feel” or “I don’t know what to say.” This honest and vulnerability of your emotions opens the space for your loved one to talk about their experience in their own words, space and time.
Be OKAY with their Pain (and yours).
It is hard to witness someone we care about be in pain, so it is very understandable that our initial reaction is to point out a silver lining or be positive. Yet comments like “you can always adopt” can also feel very dismissive and invalidating. Be okay sitting with your wife, sister, brother, or friend in their pain. Not only is it helpful to them know that you see their sadness, be open and expressive about your own emotions. Sharing your sadness and grief can reduce their isolation and loneliness. Yet also know your limits. If talking about and expressing emotions seem overwhelming, reach out for your own professional counseling and support.
Be Patient.
Infertility is a private and personal journey that affects everyone differently. Even a couple who is on the journey together will find themselves managing the emotions involved in varied ways. Talking about infertility and pregnancy loss can hard because of the shame and embarrassment that often accompanies it. When being available as a support to friend or family, be mindful that your loved one is on their own timeline in terms of when and how they want to share the highs and lows of this journey. If you have already followed some of the steps listed above, they know you are there with them and available as they need you

Treatments: IVF, Employee Member
Beginning the Journey
About 6 years ago I began the journey of wanting to start a family. My husband and I decided to start this long journey. I got pregnant, but at 8 weeks I lost the baby.
Finding Help Through Walmart Benefits
After waiting a long time and nothing came naturally we looked for specialists. Thanks to our work at Walmart we found out about Kindbody
Navigating the Ups and Downs of Treatment
We began the journey to this treatment with ups and downs. They placed the first embryo and it was not resolved, so we had to start the treatment again.
A Miracle Realized
On our second attempt and thanks to God and Kindbody with their kind treatment and great doctors and nurses, my great miracle named Emmanuel was achieved. I am grateful to you and your great support.

Last week, we had the incredible opportunity to present at The Conference Board’s Employee Healthcare Conference in New York, a premier gathering of industry leaders, forward-thinking employers, and benefits executives. The event served as a dynamic forum for exploring the latest trends and innovations shaping the future of employee healthcare.
Kindbody’s Founding Physician and Chief Innovation Officer Dr. Fahimeh Sasan took the stage alongside our valued employer partner, Mindy Christopher, Benefits Manager at The RealReal, to discuss one of today’s most pressing topics: how employers can balance rising cost pressures with the need to deliver meaningful, high-quality care that drives employee retention and engagement. Together, they shared a candid look at what it takes to drive impact, from aligning on outcomes that matter to building solutions that are both clinically effective and financially sustainable.
In addition to the conversations on stage, our team spent time connecting with employers at our booth, providing a valuable, real-time pulse on what is top of mind across the market. A few themes came up consistently:
Cost control is the top priority. Employers are under increasing pressure to manage healthcare spend, with many sharing that CFOs are more involved than ever and holding teams accountable for measurable outcomes. There is a clear expectation that solutions demonstrate impact, both in terms of clinical outcomes and cost savings. As part of this focus, employers are also looking for greater transparency and alignment in how solutions are priced and utilized, with models such as Kindbody’s approach of only charging for services actually provided, rather than a PEPM structure, resonating as a way to ensure spend is directly tied to value delivered.
A shift toward efficiency over expansion. Rather than adding more point solutions, employers are focused on optimizing and better utilizing existing benefits. This increasingly includes auditing their current vendor ecosystem to identify underperforming or redundant solutions and, where appropriate, consolidating or replacing them with more impactful, integrated options that deliver stronger outcomes and clearer value. A shift toward efficiency over expansion was also evident, with Mindy sharing that at The RealReal they took a holistic look across their vendor ecosystem, evaluated utilization across programs, and made intentional trade-offs to reallocate existing dollars, ultimately enabling them to add Kindbody without increasing their overall budget.
Family-building benefits continue to be one of the most impactful tools employers have for both recruiting and retaining talent. As competition for top talent intensifies, employees are increasingly evaluating benefits as a key factor in where they choose to work and whether they stay. As Mindy shared, “I’ve actually heard somebody say, ‘I wanted to leave, but now with this benefit, I can’t because I won’t find it anywhere else.’” She noted that from a talent acquisition and retention perspective, fertility and family-building benefits can be a meaningful differentiator and “a wonderful retention strategy.” Beyond retention, she emphasized the life-changing impact of these benefits, sharing that “there’s people who may not have had an option before, and now they do have options,” and that “it makes me feel like what I do is actually changing somebody’s life—because it actually is.” She also highlighted how powerful it is to hear directly from employees, including those who share their experiences with senior leadership such as the CEO, CPO, and CFO.
Optionality is key. Employers are looking to provide more choice and flexibility in how employees access care, recognizing that one size does not fit all. This includes offering multiple pathways to care, more personalized benefit experiences, and solutions that can adapt to diverse employee needs. At the same time, there is a tension between offering optionality and avoiding unnecessary complexity, making thoughtful curation and guidance increasingly important. As Mindy shared in the context of menopause care, while it is not something they currently offer, it is a benefit they anticipate wanting to provide in the future as their workforce ages. Dr. Sasan noted that “the number one word I hear from women who have had appropriate menopause care is ‘life-changing,’” adding that employers should be able to support “life-changing moments in our 40s and 50s when we feel more like ourselves.”
Taken together, the conversations at The Conference Board and insights from The RealReal reflect a clear direction for employers: reproductive health benefits must deliver measurable value, support employee needs, and operate within increasingly defined financial constraints. As employers continue to refine their strategies, those that can balance affordability with impact, while also supporting recruitment, retention, and employee experience, will be best positioned for long-term success.

Future Family, the only financing platform built exclusively for fertility patients, today announced a partnership with Kindbody, a leading fertility and family-building benefits provider and fertility care delivery platform. This collaboration will provide Kindbody patients with greater access to comprehensive fertility treatments through flexible, patient-centered financing options paired with dedicated clinical and financial support.
"Access to affordable, compassionate fertility care has been our mission since day one," said Brian Miller, Chief Operating Officer at Kindbody. "Partnering with Future Family allows us to remove one of the most significant barriers our patients face—the cost of treatment. Together, we're ensuring that financial constraints don't stand between people and their dreams of building a family."
The partnership addresses a critical need in fertility care, where the average IVF cycle can cost $15,000-$20,000 or more, and patients often require multiple cycles. Through Future Family, Kindbody patients now have access to:
● Personalized financing up to $50,000 with competitive rates and flexible terms
tailored to individual treatment plans
● Soft pre-qualification that doesn't impact credit scores
● Dedicated Financial Specialists who customize payment plans based on each
patient's unique circumstances and treatment timeline
● RN Care Coaches who provide expert guidance throughout the fertility journey
● Comprehensive coverage for IVF, IUI, egg freezing, medications, genetic testing,
donor services, and more
"Future Family was born from personal experience—I built my own family through IVF and experienced first hand the high out of pocket cost of IVF. Financial stress can compound an already emotional journey," said Claire Tomkins, Founder of Future Family. "We've helped more than 10,000 patients move forward with care, and partnering with Kindbody allows us to extend that support to even more families seeking compassionate, accessible fertility treatment."
Future Family's financing features include no prepayment penalties, interest that accrues only on funds actually used, and flexibility to secure financing up to 90 days before treatment begins, with payments starting only after the initial disbursement. The platform's concierge approach ensures patients receive guidance on all aspects of their treatment costs, including medications, testing, and ancillary services.
The partnership reflects both organizations' commitments to making family building more accessible, particularly for LGBTQ+ individuals and families, single parents by choice, and anyone facing fertility challenges.
Kindbody patients can apply for financing online and connect directly with a Future Family Financial Specialist to explore options specific to their treatment plan.

Luna, an innovative healthtech company developing the world’s most advanced smart wearables, and Kindbody, a leading fertility and family-building benefits provider and fertility care delivery platform, today announced a strategic partnership designed to bring more clarity, personalization, and data-driven insight to women’s health and the fertility journey.
Fertility is shaped by intricate shifts in physiology, including temperature, recovery, sleep, stress, and hormonal rhythm, most of which unfold outside the clinical environment. By bringing those daily signals into view using Luna’s biomarker tracking, the partnership offers patients a clearer understanding of their bodies while giving Kindbody care teams a more contextual and holistic picture of each individual’s reproductive health.
“The conception journey is one of the most meaningful and complex chapters in a person’s life, and it deserves both deep empathy and deep intelligence,” said Amit Khatri, Founder of Luna. “By uniting Luna’s continuous biomarker sensing with Kindbody’s world-class clinical expertise, we are giving patients a clearer window into their bodies and giving physicians a new dimension of insight that can elevate the entire care experience. This partnership represents the future of reproductive health: connected, personalized, and profoundly human.”
Through this collaboration, Luna’s technology will be made available within the Kindbody ecosystem, enriching the experience for fertility patients seeking a more informed, connected, and supportive path toward parenthood.
“This partnership with Luna represents a significant step forward in making fertility care smarter and more personalized,” said David Stern, CEO of Kindbody. “By leveraging data-driven insights, we can better support patients and providers alike, ensuring every decision is informed, effective, and centered on the needs of those on their fertility journey.”
Learn how the Luna ring can support you on your fertility journey on the Luna website.

My IVF Journey: From Hope to Holding My Son
Going through IVF was one of the most emotionally and physically intense experiences of my life — a journey defined by uncertainty, resilience, and ultimately, joy.
A single round of IVF might sound straightforward, but it's anything but simple. From the very beginning, you're immersed in a world of hormone injections, ultrasounds, early morning appointments, and a strict timeline that seems to take over your entire schedule. The medications played with my body and emotions in ways I didn’t expect. There were days I felt hopeful and strong — and others when I felt drained, anxious, and deeply vulnerable.
The hardest part wasn’t just the shots or the procedures, though those were tough. It was the waiting. Waiting to see how many eggs would mature. Waiting to hear how many embryos developed. Waiting for transfer day, and then for the longest two weeks of your life — the wait to find out if it worked.
Despite all the challenges, one major achievement stands out: we made it through. Our embryos developed. Our transfer went ahead. And then… the call came. I was pregnant. After everything, we had reached the moment we had dreamed of. But even then, the road wasn’t over. Every milestone in pregnancy brought a mix of joy and cautious optimism.
And now, today, I hold in my arms the most perfect reminder of why we endured it all: my healthy, happy, adorable 3.5-month-old son. Every smile, every tiny coo, every middle-of-the-night snuggle makes the entire experience worth it a thousand times over.
IVF taught me more about patience, strength, and hope than I ever thought possible. To anyone currently in the thick of it: I see you. Your journey is valid, your feelings are real, and your story is still being written.
