New Center for Egg Health Excellence

Vios Fertility Institute Offers Women Greater Options with the
New Center for Egg Health Excellence
Facilities are the First in Chicago and St. Louis to Specialize in Egg Freezing

Chicago, IL. (March 2, 2017) –  And thanks to the new Center for Egg Health Excellence at Kindbody, they can also take charge of their fertility. As the first centers in St. Louis and Chicago to specialize in egg freezing, the Center for Egg Health Excellence and its approach to the cutting-edge vitrification process ensure women have greater control over if and when they decide to start a family.
Endorsed by the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, vitrification, or the flash-freezing of eggs, has become recognized for its ability to deliver greater conception outcomes by protecting the cells against deterioration.  Until recently, slow freezing was the standard by which to freeze a woman’s eggs. However, the old process leads to the formation of ice crystals, which can cause the cells to shred and rupture when frozen or thawed, lowering the survival rates of the eggs. Now, with vitrification’s ability to freeze the eggs to a glass-like state, pregnancy rates using frozen eggs are now comparable to that of fresh (non-frozen) “young” eggs.
The new Kindbody Center for Egg Health Excellence offers freedom to women who want a child on their timeline. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the proportion of first births to women over age 35 went up 23 percent from 2000 to 2014. At the same time, a woman’s egg supply decreases with age, leading to a greater risk of infertility. If her “younger” eggs are frozen and used years later for insemination, the outcomes of conception and a healthier pregnancy are significantly improved.
“A woman today has more options than she’s ever had before, in both her professional life and her personal life,” remarked Angeline N. Beltsos, MD, fertility specialist and Medical Director for The Center for Egg Health Excellence. “With egg freezing, a woman no longer has to sacrifice a family of her own in order to expand her education, build her career, or just take time for herself. When she is ready to become pregnant, we offer the technology and treatment to help make her next dream a reality.”
The Center of Egg Health Excellence is now open at three Kindbody locations
