Dr. Lynn Westphal

Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Lynn Marie Westphal, M.D., FACOG, and Kindbody’s Chief Medical Officer graduated summa cum laude from Lawrence University, earned her M.D. degree at Stanford University, and did her residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at UCLA and Stanford University. She did a fellowship in molecular biology at Stanford University and completed her fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI) at UCSF. Dr. Westphal joined the full-time faculty at Stanford University in 1998 and was a Professor in the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics, Director of the Fertility Preservation Program, Director of the Third Party Reproduction Program, and Director of the REI Fellowship. Her interest in fertility preservation for cancer survivors led her to set up one of the first oocyte cryopreservation programs in the country. She has held numerous national leadership positions and was the President of the Fertility Preservation Special Interest Group of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine from 2008-2009. She was the Director of Women’s Health at Stanford from 2005-2012. In 2012, she co-founded the Stanford Center for Health Research on Women and Sex Differences in Medicine (WSDM) and served as co-director of the program for two years.

Dr. Serena Dovey

Reproductive Endocrinologist

Dr. Serena Dovey is a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist and reproductive endocrinologist. She graduated from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville for medical school and completed her residency in OB/GYN at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Harvard Medical School in Boston, and her fellowship in REI at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Before joining Kindbody, she worked in the Reproductive Endocrinology division at the University of Colorado and served as the director of the Fertility Preservation Program. Dr. Dovey was born in Auckland, New Zealand and grew up primarily in Denver, Colorado. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, hiking, yoga and cooking.

Dr. Nastaran Foyouzi

Reproductive Endocrinologist

Dr. Foyouzi is a board-certified subspecialist in both Reproductive Endocrinology and Medical Genetics by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG) and American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ABMGG). She completed her internship in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Yale University. Thereafter, she went on to complete her residency at Washington University in St. Louis, followed by her fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI) at the University of California in San Francisco. After graduating from her fellowship training, Dr. Foyouzi was appointed to the faculty of the University of Michigan as a WRHR Scholar (NIH funded scholarship). In 2015, she decided to pursue training in medical genetics to add a new skill set to her expertise in REI. She completed her fellowship in Medical Genetics at UCLA, where she cared for patients with a broad range of genetic conditions. Dr. Foyouzi has authored and co-authored publications in leading peer-reviewed academic journals including Fertility and Sterility, Human Reproduction, and Obstetrics and Gynecology. She has also presented research at national conferences including those of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), the Society for Reproductive Investigation (SRI) and the Endocrine Society. Furthermore, Dr. Foyouzi is a reviewer for the Human Reproduction Journal and Obstetrics & Gynecology Journal (known as a Green Journal). She serves as an abstract reviewer for American Society of reproductive Medicine (ASRM).

Dr. Yang Liu

Senior Embryologist

Dr. Liu received her MD. degree from Shanghai Tiedao Medical College (now known as Tongji University, College of Medicine) in China and a Ph.D. degree from Cornell University. She underwent her postdoctoral training on embryonic cardiovascular development and heart disease at Texas A&M University and has published more than 20 scientific articles. Most recently, Dr. Liu worked as a lead embryologist, lab manager, and assistant investigator at the Baylor Scott & White Health Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Texas. She is proficient in the in vitro fertilization laboratory techniques, including conventional in vitro insemination, intracytoplasmic sperm injection, oocyte/embryo vitrification, embryo culture, embryo transfer, and embryo biopsy.

Emi Gaviola

Clinic Director

Emi was born in Tokyo but grew up in Honolulu, eventually finding her way to San Francisco where she most recently was a Client Services Manager for Sephora! She is an experienced Client Services Manager, as well as is skilled in sales, operations, recruiting, and management. She received her Professional Designation focused in Merchandise Marketing from FIDM/Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising-San Francisco and her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Hawaii at Manoa in Japanese Language and American Studies. Emi is a PADI-certified scuba diving instructor and speaks fluent Japanese. She is excited to help women in their fertility journey and provide support and guidance along the way! 

Erica Keller

Physician Assistant

Erica graduated from the Physician Assistant Program at Duke University. She first got hooked on fertility care as an undergraduate while working in fertility research at UCLA, where she investigated the biological mechanisms behind reproductive and metabolic dysfunction related to Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). She is highly skilled at performing ultrasound, IUI, endometrial biopsies, saline sonograms, HSG, and many other fertility-related procedures.

Tera Clemons

Medical Assistant

Tera is an experienced Medical Assistant within fertility, and loves working with people on how they can receive the best healthcare for their personalized family building goals.

Sara Boyd

Medical Assistant

Sara is a master Phlebotomist and ready to lend her services and medical experience to our amazing Kindbody patients in San Francisco. Most recently, she was a Phlebotomist extern at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital. When she’s not working or in schooling, Sara is a skilled hairstylist, traveling to national parks, and keeping up with her fluency in American Sign Language.

Teresa Do

Clinical Lab Technician

Teresa studied Biology at UC Santa Cruz and is originally from San Jose, California. She most recently worked as a Microbiology Lab Tech at AEMTEK. She is most excited to learn and grow with the company. When she is not working, Teresa is raising her 4 koi fish and enjoying the Cali weather with her yorkie, Chip!

Sheena Vandna

Front Desk Host

Sheena is originally from Fiji and recently moved to San Francisco from Daly City, California. She has worked in the healthcare space for over 9 years, most recently at UCSF and Sequoia Hospital. She grew up wanting to be an ultrasound technician and has always wanted to work in a fertility clinic, so she enjoys being a part of the Kindbody team.
